Kampong Baru - Flags

Kampung Baru mainly has the blue flags of BN - the Governing Coalition

Some green P.A.S flags can also be seen (the Islamic party)

Nominations Day

Today was Nominations Day - when parties had to formally register their list of candidates (the last few days media has been full of stories of cadidates jockying for position in their parties - though one wonders why it's such a 'last minute' affair). DAP had arranged a march of supporters from Pudu (presumably to registration venue).
Band providing entertainment - T-shirts of local DAP MP popular.

It's been a hard day - they started at 7am and this is noon.

Media interest at my local kedai (coffee shop) - a camera was pointing at me while I was taking this ......and a camera pointing at him .......and a camera pointing at him.........ONLY JOKING !

Chap Goh Mei

Chinese altar in my local restaurant - I think the pink cakes were added at Hokkein New Year - and probably other things added today for Chap Goh Mei.

Same part of altar as above - but taken with flash to get more detail
(no sign of the rat that was in there when I tried to take this view at Hokkien New Year! - well it is the Year of the Rat after all !)
Today is Chap Goh Mei (there are various spellings) - the 15th day after New Year.
Above - Lions approaching Pudu Plaza office block

Lions entering office block at Pudu Plaza - to do their thing
(it's good luck for the office + workers)

Most Lion Dance groups travel around city in pick-up trucks like this (most don't have posters advertising their group).
