Next to a hair-dressers on a busy street I came across a beautiful 'Spirit House' surrounded by old tree stumps, remains of an old building and a street lamp from another era. Inside the model 'home' of the altar were little model figures - 'servants' for the spirits living in the area. I had by this time seen several of these shrines. You also see gifts and offerings placed on them for the spirits. In this particular case models of Thai dancers were placed outside the spirit's 'home' for entertainment. So much detail is put into the building of these altars. The models seem to have a character of their own.
